Curious as to what Morning Mood is about? Here is a little background:

Peer Gynt, an outlaw banished from his home in the Norwegian Mountains, traveled for many years and countless miles before finding himself an illegitimate businessman on the coast of Morocco. Unaware of the political implications, Peer decides to support the Turks in suppressing a Greek revolt. His companions despise this choice and abandon him in the desert while he slept. He is awoken suddenly and forced up a tree by a group of monkeys. In an attempt to defend himself, he breaks off a branch and swings at the wild primates. As the sun begins to rise the familiar Morning Mood begins to play. The first forte is, considered the climax, signifies the sun breaking through.

Though this may not be the dew-covered spring sunrise you may be used to associating this song with, it is the scene the composer Edvard Grieg intended. Composed in 1875 for the play Peer Gynt, this song has gained notoriety through its extensive use in pop culture.
