Microphone Assessment Has Arrived

A feature five years in the making

We’re excited to announce the first-phase release of Microphone Assessment in Piano Marvel. After years of development, we believe this powerful new feature brings us one step closer to our goal: making music literacy accessible to everyone.

Play using any piano

With the first-phase release of Microphone Assessment, you can use Piano Marvel on your iPhone or iPad completely cable-free.

Microphone Assessment is already 99% accurate with two-note polyphony and 90% accurate with three-note polyphony under ideal conditions. In short, it already works very well for beginners.

Leveraging advanced machine learning, we expect the next-phase release to deliver 99% accuracy with four-note polyphony, ensuring better performance for intermediate learners.

How to use Microphone Assessment

1. Download the Piano Marvel app on your iOS device (not yet available on other platforms) and be sure to grant microphone access when prompted.

2. Open any song and press play. You will now see an option to select "Microphone".

3. For best results, use headphones. Otherwise, switch to metronome-only to prevent the microphone from capturing background accompaniment.

4. Choose your favorite song and enjoy using Microphone Assessment!
